Giving back to the land, literally...
Although our vines go dormant and sleep during the winter, an organic vineyard is a living system that includes much more than the vines themselves. Our cover crop, laid out in careful rows above, is an important part of our organic program, growing through the winter months to nourish the soils and hold them in place as we receive our rather large annual rainfall (average over 60 inches). Much is rightfully made of the reduced pesticide use in organic production, but complex, organic fertilizers feed our vines the varied diet that allows us to produce excellent quality wines, year after year, without depleting the soil.

We're happy that most people can tear themselves away from handicaping the 2008 campaign or the SuperBowl occasionally. We're sure that it will only build your thirst as the year rolls on. January seemed appropriate to do a "White Sale." We find that many people tend to forget to buy white wines during the winter as they focus on red wines to go with warming winter dinners.
